Second International Barcode Conference
CBOL will hold the Second International Barcode Conference in Taipei, Taiwan during 18-20 September 2007. The host institution will be Academia Sinica (http://www.sinica.edu.tw/main_e.shtml) and the Chair of the Local Organizing Committee will be Dr. Kwang-Tsao Shao, Director of Academia Sinica's Research Center for Biodiversity. The first announcement has been posted and the Second Announcement will be distributed shortly.

Workshops

Leading Labs Meeting: The first "Leading Labs" Meeting is designed to bring together the lab and IT managers from the four leading barcoding centers: Guelph, SI-LAB, STRI and BioCode. The meeting will be held at the University of Guelph on April 12, 2007.

All Fungi Barcode Initiative Workshop: The Consortium for the Barcode of Life (CBOL) along with the USDA and Rutgers will convene the All-Fungi Barcode initiative workshop at the Conservation and Research Center in Front Royal, Virginia on 13-15 May, 2007. The workshop is designed to bring together approximately 40 researchers from around the world to facilitate discussion on identifying universally applicable barcode gene regions and to plan a barcode initiative devoted to fungi. The workshop is being supported by a grant to Rutgers University by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

Tree of Life-CBOL NESCent Meeting: Duke University, April 19-20, 2007.

European Molecular Biology Organization: The EMBO Workshop, entitled "Molecular Diversity and DNA Barcode", will be held in Rome on May 17-20, 2007.
